1. A full night's sleep x 2!!!
Via |
I had my first trip away from C this week for work! This means that I survived 2 nights away from my precious baby boy...and also means that for the first time in 8.5 months, I got 2 nights of totally uninterrupted sleep! Glorious!!
2. Southwest Airlines
Every time I fly Southwest, I am reminded how much I hate all other airlines. Part of it is my affinity for Love Field -- it's so much closer to my house than DFW (and doesn't involve getting on 635!), parking is closer and easier, the terminal is brand new, smaller, and easy to navigate. And then Southwest...I got a whole row of seats to myself (I can't even remember the last time this happened), they actually give you a snack on the plane, and they don't charge you for checked bags. Definitely my favorite way to travel!!
3. The Oilfield
Via |
My job requires occasional visits to the oilfield, which is where I was this week. (Note that this picture does not remotely look like my company's oilfields, which are much more modernized, but it was a cool picture). Visiting the oilfield (at least, with the frequency that I do) is so fun - I love the change of scenery, spending the majority of the day outdoors, and talking with the oilfield personnel - they are always the absolute nicest, most polite, salt of the earth kind of guys. I love that they call me "Miss Laura" even when they are 30+ years my senior. And, the food is usually pretty good - can't beat Louisiana cooking!
4. Our Good Friday Tradition
Via |
Every year for the past 4 or so years, my friend Stephanie and I have a Good Friday tradition; we both have the day off work (which I've since discovered is a fairly rare holiday in the corporate world). First, we go to the noon Good Friday service at our church, which I just love....it is always such a good reminder of the reason we celebrate Easter! After the service, we have a late lunch outside on a patio. For the past 3 years, we've gone to Patrizio, one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Highland Park Village, for lunch and bellinis on the patio with the rest of the 'ladies who lunch'. After that, we stop by the grocery store to pick up a bottle of white wine (because everyone knows that Easter is the official beginning of white wine season), head to Stephanie's house, and lounge in her backyard all afternoon drinking wine and chatting. Our other girlfriends usually get off work a little early and come over to meet up with us. It is one of my favorite traditions!! This year, things will be changing a little bit, on account of we both have babies now, who will be in tow. We'll see how long we make it through the Good Friday service (which is kind of a quiet service), and then we'll be picking up takeout to eat on Stephanie's back patio since it will be naptime for the littles as soon as church is over. Still excited we can carry on this tradition, even though it is changing a little bit!
